Introduction
This unit assists the process of alienating the land resource of Sri Lanka for public requirements, in a formal and transparent manner and monitors such activities.
Activities
• Make recommendations to issue Long-Term Lease and Grants as per the the State Land Ordinance
• Make recommendations to transfer lands to Local Authorities, Three Forces and other Public Institutions.
• Grant alternative lands to persons displaced due to Tsunami disaster.
• Take necessary measures to issue Free Grants to temples
• Resolve land matters directed to the Ministry, coordinating with the other institutions.
• Seek approval for Land Settlement Orders.
• Take actions for vesting the land belonging to the Land Reform Commission for various projects and to give Statutory Determinations.
